  • Proven Performance: Built on the long-standing reliability of the BW30 industry-standard RO membrane.

  • Durability: Known for its excellent durability, ensuring stable, long-term performance in harsh water conditions.

Key Applications

The BW30 PRO-400 Reverse Osmosis Membranes are ideal for a wide range of industrial and municipal applications:

  • Demineralization: Suitable for industries such as Power Generation, Steel & Metal, Chemical & Petrochemical.

  • Municipal Water Purification: Ensures high-quality water for public and private water systems.

Typical Properties

Product Active Area (ft² / m²) Feed Spacer Thickness (mil) Permeate Flow Rate (gpd / m³/d) Stabilized Salt Rejection (%)
FilmTec™ BW30 PRO-400 400 (37) 28 11,000 (42) 99.6
  • Test Conditions: 2,000 ppm NaCl, 225 psi (15.5 bar), 77°F (25°C), pH 8, and 15% recovery. Individual flow rates may vary by ±15%.

  • Note: Sales specifications may change with design revisions.

Suggested Operating Conditions

The BW30 PRO-400 Reverse Osmosis Membranes are designed for reliable performance in challenging conditions:

Property Limit
Membrane Type Polyamide Thin-Film Composite
Maximum Operating Temperature 113°F (45°C)
Maximum Operating Pressure 600 psi (41 bar)
Maximum Pressure Drop Per Element: 15 psi (1.0 bar)

Per Pressure Vessel: 50 psi (3.5 bar)
pH Range (Continuous Operation) 2 - 11
pH Range (Short-Term Cleaning) 1 - 13
Maximum Feed Flow 75 gpm (17 m³/h)
Maximum Feed Silt Density Index (SDI) SDI 5
Free Chlorine Tolerance < 0.1 ppm
  • Note: The maximum temperature for continuous operation above pH 10 is 95°F (35°C).

  • Important: Oxidation damage is not covered under warranty. DuPont recommends dechlorinating feedwater before membrane exposure.

Important General Information

To ensure the optimal performance and longevity of the BW30 PRO-400 Reverse Osmosis Membranes, follow these guidelines:

  • Moisture Maintenance: Keep elements moist after initial wetting.

  • System Operation: Follow the FilmTec™ Reverse Osmosis / Nanofiltration Elements Operation Excellence guidelines for successful RO system operation.

  • Biological Growth Prevention: During prolonged shutdowns, immerse membranes in a preservative solution.

  • Handling and Compatibility: The customer is fully responsible for the effects of incompatible chemicals and lubricants on the membranes.

System Operation and Start-Up Sequence

  • Avoid static permeate-side backpressure during operation.

  • Permeate from the first hour should be discarded.

  • Effective cyst and pathogen removal depend on system design and maintenance practices.

Refer to the FilmTec™ Reverse Osmosis Membranes Technical Manual for detailed system operation, plant start-up sequence, and troubleshooting.
